The Objective of Wine Academy of India is to promote sensible and moderate wine drinking, impart knowledge of wine and promote wine culture in India by establishing relationships with the major players in the hospitality industry, Hotel management and catering institutes, wine clubs and individual wine lovers.
Wine Academy of India is not a club. Its an academy which conducts wine appreciation courses and tasting sessions. WAI can organise sessions for clubs, corporates etc but its not a club.
WAI organises only events related to Wine and its appreciation. WAI organises its own branded events for wine appreciation and guided tasting sessions as well as conduct such events for third parties. WAI can organise sessions for clubs, corporates etc.
WAI offers its own Wine Appreciation courses for the wine lover as well as internationally and nationally certified wine courses like WSET London certified courses, Bordeaux Sommelier school courses etc.
Currently, WAI offers only WAI certified courses. We are in the process of offering international wine courses by becoming aproved programme provider for International organisations such as WSET.
WAI conducts its own wine appreciation courses and participants will be given a certificate of participation. The courses and sessions are conducted by wine experts and sommeliers.
Internationally valid courses will be certified by International Wine course providers. These certificates will be valid all over the world.
WAI, currently, offers its own Wine Appreciation courses. WAI is in the process of offering international wine courses by becoming aproved programme provider for International organisations such as WSET. These courses like WSET’s various Certificate, Diploma and Advanced Diploma courses shall be international certified courses.
WAI offers beginners and intermediate Wine Appreciation courses and guided tasting sessions. This can be taken by wine lovers or staff of Hotels and clubs to have a basic knowledge of wine.
We also offer courses for Bordeaux wines and Burgundy wines by inviting sommelier schools from France to conduct the sessions .

WAI courses may run 3-4 hours per session. The duration for other sessions and courses can be 1 day or 2 days and also a few weeks or months continuous assessments depending upon the courses.
WAI courses are delivered by experts in the field, trainers from sommelier schools from France to conduct special courses such as Bordeaux wines and Burgundy wines and Certified sommeliers.
WAI has its office premises but the courses, sessions and events are held at Hotels and Clubs due to logistical reasons.
Sheraton Park Hotel is the current venue in Chennai. WAI monthly events and sessions are held there. Third party events can be held in other hotels, clubs, private houses or at WAI office premises.
It will vary from session to session. The cost of the session depends on the type of course and session. It also depends on fees, travel and accommodation for the speakers and trainers , cost of the venue and the food provided and the cost of the wines sourced.
Yes, the events will only be on wines and its appreciation.
WAI will include sessions on spirits made by distillation of wine at a later stage if necessary and relevant for wine education.

Anyone who wants to know more about wine and its appreciation can attend the session. However, they have to be of legal drinking age and capacity.
The legal drinking age in India is 21 years and hence people aged 21 and above will only be allowed to attend the sessions and courses.
